The sauna ritual: halfway between wellness and tradition

The practice of sauna, deeply rooted in the ancient traditions of different cultures worldwide, keeps spreading nowadays thanks to its numerous benefits to the individual well-being and health.

The three main sauna types

Finnish sauna: the most popular one, with temperatures that can reach 90-100 °C, while humidity remains low, around 20-30%. Finnish sauna is a great way to purify the skin, improve blood circulation and reduce stress.
Mediterranean sauna: characterised by lower temperatures, about 40-50 °C, and higher humidity, around 50-60%. The Mediterranean sauna offers a relaxing sensory experience.
Turkish steam bath (Hammam): steam sauna with temperatures reaching 40-50 °C. The steam bath is useful for stimulating blood circulation and promoting sweating, all while providing an immersive experience.

Top tips for choosing the best sauna

The choice of the best sauna depends on one's needs and preferences. If you are looking for an energising and stimulating experience, the Finnish sauna is the best option. If you are seeking a relaxing and sensory experience, the Mediterranean sauna is the ideal solution and can be done wearing a swimming costume. For a relaxing but immersive experience, on the other hand, the steam bath is the most suitable type of sauna.
We recommend starting with the steam bath to optimally prepare the skin. Also, if you are not familiar with saunas, just ask the staff in charge, who will gladly indicate you the most appropriate way to use them.

The importance of using the sauna correctly

Before entering the sauna, it is important to take a hot shower to clean the skin. It is advisable to stay in the sauna for about 15-20 minutes and take cold showers afterward, as well as drink plenty of water to regulate fluid balance. In addition, if you want to get the maximum benefits, it is useful to switch from hot to cold temperatures through thermal shock. So, don’t be afraid and enjoy the cold tub, the Kneipp path, or the ice fountain!
